I’m downloading the flash player, and when its downloaded I double click and then it says I have to close firefox to install and I do. But it still wont install, anyone know what to do?

My USB flash drive was fine till it suddenly stopped working.
I opened it’s internal flash drive to see what was wrong. It was all completely fine. I removed the cap thing around the USB connector(also known as a thumb) and found that there was some rust forming around the sides.
Can someone tell me how to clean that rust? I was thinking of cleaning it with oil or damped wiping but I’m afraid that I might contaminate the flash drive and damage it.

Make sure Firefox is COMPLETELY closed. Even the download manager. If it still won’t install, open Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Del), look for firefox.exe, then end all of them.
